His upcoming run of releases commences with a 10-track cassette titled 9696 Dream.
96 Back is releasing a string of new projects on London-based label Local Action. The first in the trio of new releases is a 10-track cassette titled 9696 Dream. It was unveiled today (9 March) with its announcement accompanied by the release of its title track.
96 Back signed to Local Action last year, releasing a four-track EP entitled Sugilite. He’s previously released on labels like Central Processing Unit and Hypercolour. Taking to Twitter earlier today, the Sheffield-based artist told fans: “So so so excited to announce my new record on @localactionrec.”
He added, “a ten track cassette of really personal fuzzy numbers, it’s the start of a project culminating in an LP coming later in the year, dead nervous to get this out there really excited to see what people think xxxx”.

9696 Dream was mastered by Warp Records founder Rob Gordon, with artwork designed by Oliver van der Lugt, aka Air Max ’97. It’s scheduled for release on 16 March via digital and limited edition cassette formats. Pre-order it here and tune into lead track 9696 Dream below.
