Japanese Breakfast, aka Michelle Zauner, has shared a new visual for lead track Be Sweet.

Michelle Zauner is releasing a new album titled Jubilee under her Japanese Breakfast alias. The upcoming album is scheduled for release in June. It follows Zauner’s Psychopomp and Soft Sounds From Another Planet LPs, which were released in 2016 and 2017 respectively.

It’s not the only project Zauner’s sharing with the world in the coming months: she’s also releasing her memoir, Crying in H Mart. The book shares its name with the viral New Yorker essay Zauner penned back in 2018 and sees her expanding on the essay’s themes. It’s due for release in the UK in hardback on 5 August.

“After spending the last five years writing about grief, I wanted our follow up to be about joy,” explains Zauner in a statement for the new album. “For me, a third record should feel bombastic and so I wanted to pull out all the stops for this one. I wrote ‘Be Sweet’ with Jack Tatum from Wild Nothing a few years ago. I’ve been holding onto it for so long and am so excited to finally put it out there.”

Lead single Be Sweet was released this week and accompanied by a new visual. The music video, which Zauner directed herself, co-stars Mannequin Pussy’s Marisa Dabice. You can watch it below.
