Love Injection Records to release debut album from Conclave

The label is a sister venture to the New York-founded fanzine.

Back in October, Love Injection co-founders Paul Raffaele and Barbie Bertisch launched a new record label called Love Injection Records. Through the imprint – which the pair described as “a natural extension” of the beloved music fanzine – Raffaele and Bertisch sought to provide “a sonic avenue” for the artists they’ve met and bonded with via their work with the zine. The pair used to run another label called Most Excellent Unlimited

The first three releases on Love Injection Records came from Conclave, a New York-based live musical assembly headed up by Cesar Toribio. Now, the label has tapped Conclave for its first full-length project, which is scheduled for release in June. The self-titled album sees Toribio working alongside a string of other collaborators. Conclave was announced today (28 April) alongside the release of new single Twice, which is a cover of Little Dragon’s 2007 track.

Across the genre-weaving, 11-track album, Conclave channels the joyous and high-spirited energy of New York block parties while veering through themes such as community, life and heritage – Toribio’s Afro-Latin heritage, in particular. Previously released singles such as There’s Enough and Perdón – which was recently remixed by Louie Vega – feature on the album.

Love Injection Records will release Conclave on 18 June. Pre-order it here and watch a new music video for Twice in the player above.
