Soulphiction, real name Michel Baumann, recently passed away from cancer.
Reports of Baumann’s death circulated online on Monday (24 May). The producer, who recorded under the aliases Soulphiction and Jackmate, had died from cancer. Longtime friend and collaborator Nik Reiff confirmed the news to Pitchfork. In April, the Philpot-Records co-founder said in a Facebook post that he was undergoing chemotherapy in hospital.
Pampa Records – a label that has released music from Soulphiction – has launched a fundraiser to help Baumann’s family cover funeral costs. The €5,000 goal has nearly been reached and currently (26 May) stands at €4,111. You can donate here.
