Koreless announces debut album Agor

The Welsh producer has announced his first full-length and shared a new track.

Koreless’ debut album, Agor, is slated for release on 9 July via Young. It marks the producer’s return after a five-year hiatus. The announcement comes with the single Joy Squad, which has previously been played by Caribou and TNGHT in their BBC Radio 1 Essential Mixes. The Welsh producer has described the single as his attempt to “build a club rollercoaster that swallows you up and spits you out”. Listen to Joy Squad via the player above.

‘Agor’ is the Welsh word for open, and it reflects the producer’s genre-skimming approach to the album, which incorporates dance music with ambient and contemporary classical sounds. The producer has also cited composers Benjamin Britten and Edward Elgar as influences.

On Britten, he said, “Compared to other music of that time, his music was ostensibly sweet and followed clear rules, but there’s always something in there that doesn’t quite add up. Something just below the surface, like a crushing inevitability”.

So far, aside from Joy Squad, the producer has also released the single Black Rainbow. Pre-order Agor here.
