Saffron and Noods Radio launch radio production and broadcasting initiative

The eight-week beginners course has been described as “a safe and welcoming space for women and non-binary people to upskill and develop.”

Saffron has teamed up with Noods Radio on a new training initiative focused on radio production and broadcasting. Through the eight-week course, eight women and non-binary people will be given the opportunity to hone their skills and nurture their interests, with focus areas such as show planning, recording and editing through to marketing, presenting and interview techniques.

Participants of all skill levels are encouraged to apply to the course, which commences on 7 June. Participants aren’t required to have previous DJ or radio experience, either. The course will be lead by two Noods resident DJs: Tilly (pictured) and Manami.

Much like Saffron’s long-running Mix Nights DJ workshop scheme, the new training programme will conclude with a student showcase. On 1 August, all eight participants will take part in a Noods Radio takeover day, with each student presenting their own hour-long live show.

The Saffron collaboration marks Noods Radio’s first programme as Noods Levels CIC, which is a new venture from the station focused on education and opportunities for young creatives.

Tickets for this course are priced at £145, though Saffron and Noods have made a number of free and discounted places available in order to keep the course as accessible as possible. Apply here.
