Shanique Marie has a solo album on the way. The Jamaican vocalist and core member of the Kingston-based Equiknoxx crew will release her Gigi’s House LP this summer via Equiknoxx’s in-house imprint. The eight-track album is largely produced by Equiknoxx OG Gavsborg, though Manchester’s Swing Ting also feature on production alongside classical composer Michael Vincent Waller.
Elsewhere, Exile Di Brave and Alanna Stuart are among the vocal collaborators featured on the record, which glides through Marie’s well-thumbed blend of soul, dancehall, R&B and reggae. Gigi’s House follows a string of recent singles (Ring The Alarm, Freak) and even a joint project with 2 B Real’s Finn. The pair’s Lifey / Movers EP landed in December via Local Action.
