The Weeknd and Oneohtrix Point Never perform Save Your Tears at Brit Awards 2021

The Canadian artist donned an all-black, rain-ready look to perform at last night’s (11 May) ceremony.

The Weeknd took to the stage at last night’s Brit Awards to perform his After Hours hit Save Your Tears. The Weeknd – real name Abel Tesfaye – appeared alongside album collaborator Oneohtrix Point Never, AKA Daniel Lopatin. Lopatin was also the musical director of Tesfaye’s Superbowl performance back in February.

Later in the night, Tesfaye was awarded International Male Solo Artist. The award was presented virtually by former US First Lady Michelle Obama, who thanked him for his work in the studio and on stage. She also applauded his charitable work and contributions towards causes like Covid-19 relief, the Black Lives Matter movement and food aid in Ethiopia.

“In a tough year, he’s provided a light that’s pretty blinding and given us all a reason to dance,” Obama said.

Back in December, Lopatin dropped a music video for his Magic Oneohtrix Point Never track No Nightmares. The tune featured vocals from Tesfaye and Caroline Polachek. Both Lopatin and Tesfaye starred in the abstract visual.
