The Happier Than Ever artist has confirmed she will be performing at Glastonbury next year.

Billie Eilish is the first confirmed headliner for Glastonbury Festival 2022. The pop star will headline the Pyramid Stage on the Friday night of the festival.

The singer teased her return to Worthy Farm last night (3 October). In a post shared to Instagram Stories, Eilish can be seen wearing a hoodie emblazoned with the words: ‘Glastonbury Festival, Worthy Farm’. Eilish casually captioned the post with ‘2022’.

Her appearance at the festival was confirmed earlier this morning (4 October) by Glastonbury’s Emily Eavis. Taking to Twitter, Eavis wrote: “We couldn’t be happier to announce that the wondrous [Billie Eilish] is headlining the Pyramid on the Friday at next year’s Glastonbury Festival, becoming the youngest solo headliner in our history. This feels like the perfect way for us to return and I cannot wait!”

Eilish is the first confirmed headliner for next summer’s festival. The 19-year-old will also be the festival’s youngest ever solo headliner. The headline performance will be Eilish’s second appearance at Glastonbury, following her debut at the festival’s last edition in 2019.

Back in January, Glastonbury was been cancelled for a second year running due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The news was officially confirmed via a statement, which reads: “With great regret, we must announce that this year’s Glastonbury Festival will not take place, and that this will be another enforced fallow year for us.”

“In spite of our efforts to move Heaven & Earth, it has become clear that we simply will not be able to make the Festival happen this year.” The festival apologised: “We are so sorry to let you all down.”

In May, Glastonbury debuted a livestream show Live at Worthy FarmIt featured performances from former Crack Magazine cover stars such as IDLES, Jorja Smith and Kano, as well a set from Honey Dijon and a debut performance from The Smile – a new group formed by Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood and Tom Skinner.

Glastonbury is set to make its return from 22–26 June 2022.
