Robert Eggers’ new Björk-starring film The Northman is slated for release on 22 April in UK cinemas.
The soundtrack has been composed by Seb Gainsborough – aka Vessel – and Robin Carolan. Lyra Pramuk has also shared details of her involvement in the music for the Viking thriller.
“I am truly thrilled to have contributed a small part to the sprawling and masterful score for Robert Eggers’ THE NORTHMAN, composed by Robin Carolan and Sebastian Gainsborough,” Pramuk wrote. “Eggers is one of my absolute favorite film directors, and it’s a dream for me to be involved in this project, no less because my vocals appear on the same soundtrack as Björk’s.”
The full soundtrack will be released on Sacred Bones Records. Speaking on composing the film score, Gainsborough said, “It was a bizarre, exhilarating and a generally batshit-crazy project to be a part of, let alone be the first score either of us have worked on.”
The upcoming film stars Björk as the ‘Seeress’. This will be the musician’s first major acting role since 2000’s Dancing in the Dark. Watch Björk in the new trailer for The Northman.
