The Bristol festival and promoter is hosting a series of standalone events in 2022.
Simple Things has announced its 2022 programme. The Bristol festival won’t be going ahead this year, but the programme of standalone events has been confirmed. As part of Bristol New Music festival, Mica Levi‘s new composition star star star will be performed by an ensemble at St George’s on 5 May, alongside Joanne Robertson – who Levi has previously collaborated with – and experimental trio Still House Plants.
The next show on the Simple Things programme will come from previous Crack Magazine cover star Blackhaine, who will make his Bristol debut at Strange Brew on 11 May. The following day (12 May), Motion is set to host a sold out live show from Viagra Boys. Hyperdub’s Jessy Lanza has been confirmed for a Strange Brew set on 18 May. Rounding off the month is a programme of live performances, with Altin Gün booked for Bristol’s boat venue Thekla (25 May) and Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever for Motion on the same night.
The next month, Simple Things is set to return to Strange Brew with Soichi Terada on 1 June. Pioneering ambient composer William Basinski will perform at St George’s (11 June) and Tirzah will play a sold out date at Fiddlers (21 June).
Towards the end of the year, Jockstrap are set to perform at Exchange on 5 October, and TRAAMS are heading to Strange Brew (14 October). Irish poet and musician Sinead O’Brien is set to headline The Louisiana on 21 October.
Additional events include ESO Presents: In the Dance at Motion on 21 May, with a line-up featuring Objekt, Madam X and Re:ni. There’s also the inaugural new Bristol festival Fields of Fantasy, which will take place from 29-31 July, and Alfresco Disco will host their next party on 9 July.
