The Italian festival returns to the island of Ortigia, in Siciliy, from 27-31 July 2022.
We’re excited to be hosting a stage at this year’s Ortigia Sound System Festival. On 31 July, the Crack Magazine stage will see Anthony Naples play back-to-back with DJ Python, plus sets from Kelly Lee Owens and Yu Su. We’ll also be welcoming longtime collaborators Lino Capra Vaccina & Mai Mai Mai – who are residents at this year’s festival – and Nyege Nyege affiliates MC Yallah and Debmaster.
Elsewhere, former Collections cover star Loraine James is set to play this year, alongside Overmono – who’ll be performing live – Shanti Celeste and Call Super. Anz, Lyra Pramuk, Laurel Halo and Nihiloxica also join the bill. The line-up will feature a Hivern Discs showcase with John Talabot, Eva Geist and Lamusa II.
This year’s festival theme is ΜIƬO. On the overarching theme, the festival’s organisers wrote: “We are preparing to face a post-pandemic era, while projecting ourselves towards a new world made up of new means of communication and ways of interpreting artistic and cultural languages.”
“This significant historical moment makes us responsible for writing a new ΜIƬO, in an attempt to raise ourselves towards a new narrative that constitutes the history and culture from which Ortigia Sound System Festival was born.”
