Kendrick Lamar says he was “confused” when Drake and Kanye made up

Kanye Kendrick Drake

The track appears on the TDE rapper’s new LP Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers.

Father Time, which features Sampha on guest vocals, sees Kendrick Lamar name drop Drake and Kanye West, revealing that he was “confused” when the two made up. On the song, K-Dot reflects on “daddy issues” and his maturation, touching upon his own ego and competitive nature. He references Ye and Drake’s reconciliation after years of animosity between them, and how their forgiveness made Lamar realise he had more growing to do. He raps: “When Kanye got back with Drake, I was slightly confused/ Guess I’m not as mature as I think, got some healin’ to do.

Drizzy and Ye reunited and put their beef behind them last year, performing together at the Larry Hoover benefit concert in Los Angeles on 9 December 2021. K-Dot and Drake also used to have some longstanding beef, stemming back to 2013 when he name dropped Drizzy in the track Control.

Naturally, users on Twitter were quick to react to the track.

Lamar released his long-anticipated new double-album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers today. The 18-track release features a slew of collaborators including Duval Timothy, Thundercat, Beth Gibbons – of Portishead renown – and Ghostface Killah.
