Kode9 announces first album in seven years, Escapology

The record is slated for digital release on 15 July via Hyperdub.

Kode9 has announced his first LP since 2015’s Nothing. Escapology is the first audio offering from the Hyperdub founder’s multi-disciplinary project Astro-Darien, which he launched in 2021 with a two-week audiovisual installation at London’s Corsica Studios. The project later moved to INA-GRM in Paris, where it was brought to life on a 50-speaker Acousmonium system.

Escapology, which will be released on vinyl at a later date, will act as a soundtrack accompaniment to a forthcoming “sonic fiction” entitled Astro-Darien. That one is scheduled for release in October via Flatlines – the Hyperdub sub-label dedicated to spoken word. For now, you can watch a teaser for Escapology lead single Torus in the player above and listen back to a mix from Kode9, shared as part of a Hyperdub takeover on crackaud.io, below.
