Félicia Atkinson and Sarah Davachi to play Sonic Acts Biennial 2022

The Amsterdam music and arts event has added more names to its forthcoming edition.

Sonic Acts Biennial takes place across three weekends this October with a series of performances, special commissions, workshops, a symposium and an exhibition. Ahead of time, Sonic Acts has added a roster of artists to the programme, confirming Félicia Atkinson, Sarah Davachi, Samson Young, Kali Malone, Debit and more.

The festival will head to Het HEM, a former munitions factory, on 7-9 October for a sound art programme entitled Inner Ear(th). The likes of Jessica Ekomane, Olivia Block and Aho Ssan will present sound works as part of Sonic Acts’ collaboration with INA GRM for the multi-speaker Acousmonium. Furthermore, there will be archival works from INA GRM-affiliated artists such as Jaap Vink, Iannis Xenakis and Jules Negrier. UK multidisiplinary artist Russell Haswell will also perform live alongside Hugo Esquinca at the weekender.

A series of workshops and talks focused on the impact of pollution will take place on 15-16 October. These will be followed by evening programmes comprised of music and film. Sarah Davachi, for instance, will present a solo electronic performance that explores the intricacies of timbral and temporal space on 15 October at Likeminds. An exhibition focused on the climate crisis will run throughout the month, commencing on 30 September and concluding on 23 October.
