The festival has announced its first wave of acts for its 30th anniversary.

Sónar Lisboa has announced the first wave of acts for its 2023 edition, taking place from 31 March – 2 April in Lisbon, Portugal. Sónar Lisboa 2023 marks the 30th anniversary of the festival.

24 artists have been announced for the festival’s 2023 edition, including: Folamour A/V Show, Skream b2b Mala, WhoMadeWho, VTSS, Astra Club (DJ Tennis b2b Carlita), Rui Vargas, KiNK Live, Mochakk, I Hate Models, Or:la, Héctor Oaks Live, DJ Nigga Fox Live, SHERELLE x Kode9 and more.

Speaking about the line-up for Sónar’s 30th edition, Enric Palau, co-director of Sónar said: “The festival celebrates its 30th anniversary with an entirely electronic programme, which celebrates club culture, the role of the DJ as a cultural symbol of our time and the diversity of sounds at the heart of today’s electronic music scene”.

The festival has also created a visual campaign for its 30th anniversary, running past visual campaigns through AI in order to create new images that reference the festival’s history.

Sergio Caballero, co-director of Sónar said: “Sónar has processed the last 30 years of visual campaigns with Artificial Intelligence. The AI has run 29 experimental sessions, each based on a visual campaign from the festival’s history. In seeking the ability to generate images that can represent each of these campaigns, the AI learns and generates a multitude of trial and error results. It is in the beauty of these mistakes that Sónar found the image for its 30th anniversary”.

Sónar has also announced the return of Sónar+D Lisboa 2023, connecting professionals and fans through talks and debates surrounding art, music, science and technology.
