The London day festival has announced the first names for its next edition.
Following a teaser from Aphex Twin last week that hinted at a forthcoming UK appearance, today (24 January) Field Day has confirmed that the producer – aka Richard D. James – will headline this year’s edition at Victoria Park in east London. Aphex Twin last headlined the festival back in 2017 and his next Field Day performance will mark his first London show since his set at Printworks at Red Bull Music Festival in 2019. Once again, the artist will join forces with longtime creative collaborator Weirdcore for the audiovisual show.
Field Day has also revealed that Kelela, Arca, Fever Ray and Sudan Archives – all of whom are previous Crack Magazine cover stars – will play the event in August alongside Bonobo, who tops the bill alongside Aphex Twin. Other artists confirmed are Moderat, Jon Hopkins, SBTRKT and Jayda G. Actress and TSHA have also been confirmed, with both artists set to perform live. Elsewhere, Juliana Huxtable and Floorgasm founder LSDXOXO are slated to play a back-to-back set. More names are still to be announced.
This year marks the 16th edition of Field Day, which will take place at Victoria Park on 19 August. Early bird tickets start from £45, pre-sale will be available from 11am (GMT) on 26 January and general sale from 27 January. Head to the Field Day website to sign-up for early bird tickets release.
Last year marked 15 years of the festival, which started out back in 2007 at Victoria Park in Tower Hamlets where it was held for its first decade before a relocation to Herne Hill’s Brockwell Park and then north London’s Meridian Waters. The 2021 edition saw Field Day return once again to its original home. Last summer’s instalment saw the likes of Kraftwerk, Chemical Brothers, Jessy Lanza and Tygapaw play.
