Polachek also shared a new single from the album earlier today (31 January) entitled Blood and Butter. It was co-produced by Polachek and frequent collaborator Danny L Harle. The artist discussed her relationship with Harle during a Crack Magazine interview in 2021. At the time, Polachek said: “The first time I ever met Danny L Harle, I immediately felt like we were related, like we were secret siblings or something. I felt that I felt as if I’d known him my whole life, actually. But Dan and I have a similar sense of eclecticism. We both love different sources of inspiration that are really far-flung and disparate, and we both have a really similar sense of musicality.”

In that same interview – shared alongside the release of Desire, I Want to Turn Into You lead single Bunny Is A Rider – Polachek spoke of an unfinished collaboration with Grimes, among other collaborations with the likes of Beck and SOPHIE. Grimes, meanwhile, teased a collaboration with Polachek that same year in a live streamed YouTube Q&A, saying: “CAROLINE AND I HAVE STARTED A THING BUT SHES RLY GOOD AT MUSIC AND ITS DAMNED COMPLEX!”

Singles Bunny Is A Rider, Blood and Butter, Billions, Sunset and Welcome to My Island are all due to feature on Desire, I Want to Turn Into You – which lands on 14 February. A remix of Welcome to My Island featuring Charli XCX and production from 1975’s George Daniel was released earlier this month.
