The new grant programme is offering support to creative musicians and record labels in Bristol and the surrounding areas.
Launched today, Future Sound of Bristol is offering 100 hours of studio time at Factory Studios and a prize money pool of £10,000. The initiative aims to provide a boost to local creative talent in the music industry in the area following the Covid-19 pandemic and in light of the ongoing cost of living crisis.
Helmed by Audiotarky – a new Bristol-based ethical music streaming platform – and Factory Studios, the project aims to celebrate and support the city’s independent music scene. The programme is open to artists and labels, with participants required to upload their music to Audiotarky to be considered.
The top 25 entries will be chosen based on social media engagement and streaming time on Audiotarky during the competition period. From this, five winners will be selected – based on their proposed plans for the prize money – by a panel of guest judges including Elder Island‘s David Havard, Trinity Centre’s Aysha Tailor-Whyte and Bristol’s Night Time Economy Advisor Carly Heath as well as DJ Bunjy – who is a Bristol International Music Ambassador – and award-winning producer Ali Chant.
The artist or label that comes first will be awarded £5k and a month’s membership at Factory Studios. Second place will win £2k and six sessions at the Bristol creative studio space and the other three winners will be given £1k in prize money and three sessions at Factory Studios. Applications are open now and will close on 10 April. Winners will be announced on 21 April. Head here to apply.
