The free interactive industry day for creatives will take place on 18 March at Bristol Beacon.

CrossTalk presents a day of talks and workshops for attendees to gain insight – from professionals across a range of creative disciplines – into making a career in the creative sector and developing their practice. Organised by Noods Radio’s Noods Level platform in collaboration with Bristol Beacon, the event returns following its debut outing last year and will explore the intersection of music and creative careers.

The 2023 CrossTalk event will feature three talks hosted by Emma Blake Morsi. This will include a conversation on video game music composition and production with The Flight – who has worked on the likes of Horizon: Zero Dawn, Assassin’s Creed and Odyssey – and a talk with BRICKS Magazine founder Tori West, who will speak on her experiences of building an art and fashion magazine as a queer and working class person. The third talk will be with presenter Joelah Noble, who has worked for Grime Daily, 1xtra and MTV, about carving a path in the TV industry.

In addition to the talks, which are open to creatives at any stage of their career, there will be workshops for anyone aged 18-25 looking to get into the creative industries. This will include a DJ masterclass for aspiring women, trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming DJs led by Saffron Records in collaboration with Pioneer DJ’s ‘Start From Scratch’ project. There will also be one for budding sound technicians, which will teach participants how to successfully set up and run a live stage, as well as a VR and app development workshop hosted by Rocketmasters.

In addition to the talks and workshops, CrossTalk is collaborating with the Museum of London to welcome the Grime Stories exhibition and a Q&A with the exhibit’s curators Risky Roadz and Dhelia Snoussi. Following the day event, there will also be an afterparty featuring a performance from local up-and-coming rapper GTTR and a special guest headliner to be announced.
