Mumdance, Nkisi and more confirmed for Semibreve

The Portuguese festival returns to Braga from 26-29 October.

Semibreve has announced the first names for its 13th edition, taking place this autumn. Pioneering forward-thinking digital art and electronic music, this year will feature a Semibreve debut from DJ and producer Nkisi and a durational DJ set from Mumdance. North American trio Emeralds have also been confirmed to play, reuniting after a 10-year hiatus, and there will also be performances from US composer Kali Malone and Norwegian artist Anja Lauvdal – the latter of whom will present her latest Laurel Halo-produced record From a story now lost.

For the forthcoming edition, Semibreve will place emphasis on connections between exploratory music and experimental cinema practices. As part of this, French composer Kassel Jaeger will present an audiovisual work with cinematographer and photographer Eléonore Huisse. There will also be a new cinematographic collaboration between Japanese artists Tujiko Noriko and Joji Koyama.

In addition to the performance programme, there’ll be a series of artist talks, workshops and installations taking place during the festival, which is held in various spaces across the northern Portuguese city. This includes UNESCO World Heritage site Bom Jesus, the Theatro Circo, contemporary arts space gnration and the University of Minho’s medieval saloon.
