Helena Hauff, DJ Gigola and SPFDJ to play Stone Techno Festival

The techno festival returns to the UNESCO World Heritage Zollverein in Essen, Germany from 8-9 July.

Stone Techno Festival has unveiled details of its forthcoming edition this summer. Taking place in the post-industrial Ruhr Area, the electronic music festival is set to welcome Dasha Rush, JakoJako, SPFDJ, Marcel Dettmann and Anetha. Other names locked in include Stone Techno’s own curator Ahmet Sisman, Berlin producer and Live From Earth collective member DJ Gigola and former Crack Magazine cover star Helena Hauff.

A multi-disciplinary collaborative project from the Ruhr Museum and label and promoter The Third Room that takes in a musical, cultural, political, scientific and social approach, Stone Techno offers four stages within the UNESCO World Heritage site.

The festival is also teaming up with Arte Concert again this year, with the platform acting as the official streaming partner for Stone Techno. This follows on from a showcase of eight sets from the 2022 edition of the festival which Arte Concert released via its streaming channels last year as well a five-hour Stone Techno concert which was recorded at the Ruhr Museum for the platform in 2021.

Stone Techno takes inspiration from the site where the festival takes place – a former industrial coal mine which is now a cultural institution. As part of this, the project featured a series in 2021 and 2022 of artists experimenting with music made out of stones. This year, the festival is focussed on platforming up-and-coming artists as well as more established names. Tickets for Stone Techno Festival 2023 are on sale now. Head to the festival’s website for further information.
