The Montréal festival has shared its second wave of artists for August.

Taking place from 22 to 27 August, MUTEK will present almost 80 live performances across five locations in the Quartier des Spectacles. Artists confirmed to play include Ale Hop, Grand River, Jennifer Cardini, E-Sagglia and Salamanda. The festival will also host a series of collaborations which will see Planet Mu’s µ-Ziq with ID:Mora, Animistic Beliefs and Jeisson Drenth, upsammy and visual artist Jonathan Castro and Tim Hecker performing with multidisciplinary artist Vincent de Belleval.

The six day festival kicks off with an opening concert at New City Gas from Italian composer and producer Grand River and Canadian artist Tim Hecker with immersive lighting from Vincent de Belleval. Following this, the Nocturne programme is set to take place from 23 to 27 August at the Society for Arts and Technology which is where the likes of Salamanda, Animistic Beliefs, Halina Rice, Deena Abdelwahed and Paraadiso will play.

Elsewhere, MUTEK will host three intimate afternoon listening presentations plus large-scale audiovisual works and a Métropolis series dedicated to rhythmic forms of electronic music, comprising the festival’s dance music offering with the Friday dedicated to more techno-leaning artists and the Saturday inspired by house and electro sounds.

There will also be the MUTEK Forum featuring a discussion with Eris Drew around community and a demonstration from Japanese collective Open Reel Ensemble of their reel-to-reel tape installation. Head to the MUTEK Montréal website for further information and tickets.
