Ikonika, Giant Swan and more feature on Boofy’s Sector 7 Sounds anniversary release

The compilation features original and remix tracks exploring 140.

Sector 7 Sounds – the Bristol-based label helmed by Boofy – celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, the imprint has announced an eight-track release, entitled 10/10, with a new single from it dropping each Friday ahead of the full project coming out on 25 August.

Original tracks on the compilation come from Boofy, Invader Spade, Leon P, and Jook and Lemzly Dale. On the remix side of the double LP, Ikonika reworks Commodo’s Guah, there’s a Giant Swan remix of Drone, a stripped-back edit of Kahn & Neek’s Random Lab by Josi Devil and EVA808 remixing Jook’s Gold Rush.

Founded in 2013, Boofy’s Sector 7 Sounds has been – and continues to be – an influential force within bass, grime and dubstep-oriented club sounds. In addition to the compilation, to celebrate the label’s birthday there’s an ongoing throwback sale on the Sector 7 Sounds Bandcamp page.

“Never really thought about it as there was never any road map but Sector 7 Sounds always progressed with the idea of ‘music I want to hear in clubs,’” Boofy wrote in a post. “The only rule was people who I could invite round my house that would take their shoes off on first instance without me asking.”

“We’re doing something fun for 10 years, and to kick start all good moods off,” the caption continues, “I just slapped every record still available on our Bandcamp for £7 like its 2013 & every bit of merch is £10. (No end date)”.
