Machinedrum releases new song with KUČKA, announces 4#TRAX EP

The EP is out on 27 October via Ninja Tune.

Machinedrum – a.k.a Travis Stewart – has a new EP on the way. It will serve as the artist’s first as solo project Machinedrum since 2021’s Psyconia and features four tracks. It’s a tribute, he says in a statement, to “#trax, a channel on IRC [Internet Relay Chat – a text-based chat system for instant messaging]” where he spent much of his teenage years. The new EP was made using a hybrid of Impulse Tracker and Ableton Live.

The release leads with a collaboration, Violet, with KUČKA alongside New York-based, Japanese producer and artist rei brown and Mad Decent signee LIZ. “Collaboration is a big part of my process these days, and it’s no different on this EP,” Stewart said. “I had a blast working with KUČKA, LIZ and rei brown on these songs. They each brought their own unique individual characters to the songs and I’m really proud of what we created together!”

Machinedrum is currently on tour in the US, with stops in Europe, including performances at Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) and Rome, Italy, lined up.
