The 11th Edition of the Italian festival will take place from July 18-21.
The Tones on the Stones Foundation and Threes Productions’ collaborative festival will feature the likes of San Paulo’s Cashu, a favourite on the queer underground electronic music scene, the subversive club sonics of Marie Davidson, and a rare Italian show from techno pioneer Robert Hood. The Underground Resistance founding member will be joining an eclectic bill that includes the cerebral dancefloor deconstructions of Objekt b2b CCL, the ritualistic industrial sounds of Aïsha Devi presenting her ‘Les Immortales’ AV show, and trance-inducing rhythms from Roman favourite DJ Taxxi.
Experimental trailblazers are also well represented, with cellist Lucy Railton, Scottish sound designer Lanark Artefax, and Turin’s own sonic explorer Luce Clandestina all performing. There’s also audiovisual sets from Alessandro Cortini with Marco Ciceri, Cosimo Damiano with Domenico Romeo, and more.
The festival will be held at the Tones Teatro Natura venue in Northern Italy; launched in 2020, Tones Teatro Natura is a major project for Tones on the Stones, who have transformed a disused quarry into a multidisciplinary creative space.
In its latest iteration, Nextones endeavors to interrogate the intersections between humanity and its surrounding environment, with the breathtaking natural scenery of Northern Italy’s Ossola Valley providing the perfect backdrop for this festival experience.
Complimentary to the music, the festival promises a multitude of cultural experiences, including hikes in the Uriezzo Gorge, screenings, sound meditations, talks and artistic residencies.
