Celebrating South Asian music and arts, Daytimers have curated a series of DJ sets, live performances, workshops and panel talks.

Daytimers have revealed the full plans and line-up for their curated event Daytimers Festival. Taking place tomorrow, Saturday 15 June, the group are taking over the Horniman Museum in South East London, and have programmed a line-up of music, talks, workshops and food.

Music will come from the likes of indo jazz singer and multi-instrumentalist Tara Lily, sitar led collective Jawari, Tru Thoughts co-owner Robert Luis and dubstep legend and System Music head V.I.V.E.K.

They will also be curating a Mehfil stage based on their popular event, which spotlights and blends poetry, spoken word and live music. Last month, Crack spoke to Daytimers about the series, with team member Rohan Rakhit saying: “Mehfil was conceived to start more intergenerational conversations, provide sober spaces and allow for real, authentic conversation and connection away from dancefloors.”

There will also be a panel discussion hosted by Daytimers member Shirin Naveed, which will also feature Senior Curator of Contemporary Programme at the V&A, Meneesha Kellay, curator of the Chá, Chai, Tea exhibition at the Horniman Navjot Mangat and Pakistani artist Mahtab Hussain. The group will explore the role of South Asian curators in cultural and historical institutions.

Shirin told Crack: “I’m really happy to be having that conversation at the Daytimers festival for our audience, rather than for white people to speculate on. To actually have that conversation between us; to say what our role is in these spaces and institutions the more recognised we’re becoming.”

Tickets cost £20 for the day for adults, which can be purchased from the Horniman Museum’s official website. Revisit our feature with Daytimers here.
