The new, final line-up additions also include an audiovisual installation by Hidden Edges, artist talks, and a series of public workshops aimed at students.
Set to return to Portugal for its 14th edition between 24-27 October, electronic music and digital art festival Semibreve has finalised its line-up.
Both Jim O’Rourke and Keith Fullerton Whitman will show specially commissioned sound works, while audiovisual installation Chasing Waterfalls will be presented by Hidden Edges – a creative collective founded by artists Myriam Bleau and Lucas Paris, who won 2024’s Edigma Semibreve Award for works that explore the interactivity of sound and image.
Two artist talks have been announced: Mohammad Mehrabani-Yeganeh (of the duo Saint Abdullah) in conversation with artist, researcher and activist Saya in collaboration with The Wire, and nature sound recordist Izabela Dłużyk in conversation with Portuguese researcher and curator Margarida Mendes.
The festival has also announced public workshops aimed at students, which will include an exploration of the impact of voices and sound on our emotions and perception of the world, and a masterclass on improvisation and sonic tone with jazz musician Kalia Vandever.
Other highlights on the already-announced line-up include shows from Nídia and Iceboy Violet & Nueen, and installation works from the EDIGMA Semibreve Scholar – a series of art projects by students throughout Portugal.
