In support of International Women’s Day this March, Royal Albert Hall is hosting live performances, talks, DJ sets, a networking event and more.
Having kicked this week off with a showing of Barbie The Movie: In Concert with an all-female orchestra, as well as a performance by Annie Lennox featuring appearances from Celeste, Ríoghnach Connolly, Nadine Shah, and photographer and activist Misan Harriman, the Royal Albert Hall‘s March programme is only just getting started.
Tonight (7 March), the venue will host is first all-women’s world championship boxing event, Unstoppable, before welcoming Women of the World to celebrate its 15th anniversary on International Women’s Day this Saturday 8 March. Angela Davis will be a headline interviewee, making her first public appearance in the UK since 2018.
Other key dates include a performance from Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory, who will bring the sounds of their new album to the Hall on 10 March, with support from Nabihah Iqbal.
Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room, a 200-capacity space away from the auditorium, will also host a range of events this month. Habibti Nation, presented by AWAN (Arab Women Artists Now), will feature DJ sets from MUSYS and LUMA on Saturday 8 March; pianist Emily Tran and jazz trumpeter Shanise Hall will play a show in collaboration with Blue Lab Beats on 20 March; and finally, the space will host a Women Make Jazz networking event – the first of a series of panel talks and events held in partnership with Women in Jazz.
