Sónar+D releases programme for 2025

Taking place from 12-14 in Barcelona, this year’s edition of Sónar+D will explore new horizons for art in the era of AI.

Sónar+D is back in Barcelona this summer. Taking place at the Palau de Congressos de Fira Montjuïc, within Sónar by Day, the conference and festival will once again bring together artists, thinkers, scientists and technologists from a wide range of industries to explore the intersection of art, music, tech and research.

This year’s programme features dozens of talks, debates, workshop, round tables, interactive forums and master classes, as well as art installations, audiovisual shows, live performances and DJ sets.

Thematicaly, Sónar+D 2025 delves into the interactions between humans, AI and creativity – from the transformative potential of technology to artistic responses to a changing world, and the ethical and political conversations that surround both.

The programme is focused on three themes: AI and Creativity, Futuring the Creative Industries, and Worlds to Come. Embracing unconventional perspectives on AI, each theme offers a comprehensive examination of its effects on the creative industries – from artistic production to digital curation – and ultimately looks to the future as well as the present moment.

Names on the line-up include artist and quantum physicist Libby Heaney, digital artist and environmental engineer Tega Brain, Professor and lecturer Rebecca Fiebrink, singer and composer Maria Arnal, who will debut her new project Ama, and Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley, an animator/artist who creates work centring Black Trans people. Sónar+D will also collaborate with cultural, academic and scientific entities including Serpentine Gallery, New Museum, Barcelona Supercomputing Centre and University of the Arts London.
