The 26th edition of the festival will take place from 19-24 August.
MUTEK Montréal has revealed the first wave of names for this year’s edition, which is set to take place from Tuesday 19 August until Sunday 24 August.
This year’s theme, A New Cycle of Digital Creativity, builds on MUTEK’s identity as a festival focused on innovative digital art and electronic music, as well as Montréal’s position as an epicentre of digital creation.
As ever, this year’s programme platforms both local and international talent across a wide range of genres and disciplines. Highlights from the first wave of artists include Kenyan artist Slikback and New York-based, Moroccan-born composer Bergsonist, as well as Aurora Halal, Al Wootton, Bitter Babe, Cassy, Gayance, and Yu Su. Abul Mogard and Grand River will also bring their In uno spazio immenso project to the festival, while James Holden will collaborate with Polish multi-instrumentalist Waclaw Zimple, and Valentina Magaletti will perform solo, with Holy Tongue, and with Dutch artist upsammy.
MUTEK will also host special event with Max Cooper, who will return to Montréal after performing in 2022, this time with his brand new immersive show Lattice 3D/AV. Due to take place on Thursday 21 August at 7pm at Théâtre Maisonneuve, individual tickets are available now.
Festival Passports and Weekend Passes are also on sale, with each purchase supporting Brian Eno’s EarthPercent.
Running in tandem with the festival, MUTEK Forum is also set to return this year for three days from 20-22 August. Bringing together researchers, tech professionals, artists, institutions and curators, the programme spans talks, lectures, workshops, screenings, listening sessions, performances and networking events focused on digital creation.
