The EU-funded platform looks to foster creativity through performance initiatives, collaborative residencies, and networking events.
Co-funded by the European Union and Pro Helvetia, SHAPE+ brings together a dynamic network of venues, festivals, and art institutions from across Europe, spotlighting various artists who are pushing boundaries through their practice.
In 2025, the platform will hold five showcases outside of the EU, the first three of which have now been announced.
From 9-11 May, SHAPE+ brings JacqNoise, Drodged, and Ha Kyoon to Yogyakarta for performances with the Jogja Noise Bombing community based in the city, at the Jogja Noise Bombing Festival (JNB Fest). Formed in 2012, Jogja Noise Bombing focuses on experimental ambient, noise, and drone through the use of noise bombing, a practice that tests the accessibility or possibility of acceptance of sounds with a tendency to disturb in public spaces.
The next showcase heads to Cairo on the 22 May for JellyZone, a curated night that has transformed Cairo’s underground electronic music scene since 2017. The accessibility and affordability of the events has created a hub for leftfield artists, cultivating a thriving community outside the mainstream. The event will host workshops and performances from Assyouti, alys(alys)alys, and Fujita Pinnacle.
The 16 June showcase sees SHAPE+ at Cafe OTO in London, a venue at the heart of the underground scene in the city, offering unpredictable evening performances seven nights a week. The venue will host performances from Lukas De Clerck, Eve Aboulkheir, Paula Vītola, and Dania.
