Athens Epidaurus Festival announces Arca live show

Athens Epidaurus Festival celebrates its 70th anniversary this year with a Greek debut from Arca on 31 May.

To honour its 70th anniversary and place as one of Europe’s largest continuously running festivals, this summer’s Athens Epidaurus Festival (AEF) programme features an expansive range of boundary-pushing music and multidisciplinary art, as well as other cultural events.

This year, Plural Artist Management has curated a show featuring a live performance from world-building experimental artist Arca with support from Greek musician, singer, songwriter and multimedia artist Evita Manji and an opening set from Athens-based DJ Porschelane. The event will take place on 31 May at the Lycabettus Theater in conjunction with AEF’s main programme.

The evening of the show will see an afterparty hosted at the Athens Conservatoire. The event, in collaboration with NR Magazine, will host performances from DJs Bapari, Bobby Beethoven, and Safety Trance with more names to be announced.

This year will also see the return of Subset Festival ⊆, curated by Stavros Gasparatos in co-production with the Athens Conservatoire. From 4-8 June, the Conservatoire stages will display a range of live performances, visual and sound installations, and open-call workshops from artists both from Greece and around the world. Christina Vantzou is set to perform with cellist Oliver Coates and collaborators John Also Bennett and Irene Kurka, as well as Greek debuts from Lyra Pramuk and Carmen Villain. From 6-12 June, AEF is also facilitating a first-time partnership with the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre (SNFCC). The collaboration will invite Berlin-based spatial sound studio MONOM to present a range of archive works at the SNFCC Dome, with special live concerts to be announced in the coming days.
