XL, Young Turks, Ninja Tune and more to take part in Global Climate Strike

I See You

The four indie labels have announced Labels Strike for Climate Change.

XL, Young Turks, Full Time Hobby and Ninja Tune will be taking part in the Global Climate Strike at London’s Parliament Square this Friday (20 September). Alongside the strike, the labels will convene a meeting at the end of the month to discuss further action, Dazed report.

The news follows the launch of Music Declares Emergency earlier this summer. Organisations such as The Musicians’ Union, The BRIT’s and AIM as well as musicians such as Radiohead, IDLES, The xx, Caribou, Bonobo and many others have all backed the initiative.

Speaking to Music Week, co-owner of Rough Trade Shops, Stephen Godfrey said: “Increasing humankind’s odds of survival in the face of the growing climate crisis is the major calling of our time. If music’s worldwide audience can be made aware, can trigger unified political action, then the time to find our global voice is now.”

As part of the Global Climate Strike on Friday (20 September), Crack Magazine will be joining with a one-day online blackout with staff taking the day off work to join the strike.
