Sam Rockwell wins Supporting Actor Oscar for ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’

Sam Rockwell has won the first Oscar at the 90th Academy Awards.

He won for his performance as deputy sheriff Dixon in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. The film was directed by Martin McDonagh and has already picked up the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture.

It’s the first nomination for Rockwell who’s already picked up a BAFTA and Golden Globe for the role. The film is also nominated for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Editing and Best Actress for Frances McDormand.

In his speech, he thanked the academy alongside his cast-mates and fellow nominees.
