Oscars 2018: ‘Get Out’ wins Best Original Screenplay

Get Out has won its first Academy Award.

The film, directed and written by Jordan Peele and starring Daniel Kaluuya, picked up an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, beating Lady Bird, The Shape of Water, The Big Sick and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

Peele is only the third person to earn Oscar nominations for a directorial debut in the categories of Best Picture, Directing and Original Screenplay.
