Red Light Radio DJ and Dekmantel favourite David Vunk will play BAR in his hometown of Rotterdam on Friday 30 March as part of Jäger Music‘s party series. Young Marco also hosted an event as part of the same series in Amsterdam at the end of last year. The party is free, you just have to RSVP.
“Rotterdam is a workers city – people who don’t talk too much, and just do it,” Vunk told us over email about what visitors can expect from his hometown crowd. Over the years, Vunk has played countless the shows in the city, building a genuine connection with the audience there and becoming an unofficial resident selector for the city. “I love the Rotterdam crowd, they are thankful and I know that. I’m born and raised here, so some people have heard me DJ more that 100 times!”
The party is being billed as The Taste of David Vunk. Which begs the question, what does the taste of David Vunk sound like? “The taste of David Vunk is energy, variation, and phat! Classics that have stood the time in all styles like new wave, electro, techno, acid house and disco or Italo. It’s music from the heart and people from the heart. The artists I invited gave their life to the music.”
Vunk will play alongside a lineup of friends and favourites of his own choosing. Panorama Bar royalty Steffi will play and The Hacker will be bringing his new live project Amato.
Fellow Rotterdam veteran Mark Du Mosch and Midlight Records boss Gustav Goodstuff complete the lineup. The party will be supported by Red Light Radio, who will be broadcasting live from BAR in the hours prior to the event.
“I’m always excited to play every gig – for 4 people or 3000, it doesn’t matter, I will always do my best for the show. But this is my party in my city! A lot of friends will be there and there will be a lot of eyes on me!”
