This week we’re rolling with the A$AP mob in full on glitch mode, tripping with the Super Furry Animals and taking a slow ride with Steve Gunn in our roundup of the best new music videos

With the advent of high-speed internet, we’re living in a bit of a golden age for the music video – but we’re also reaching a point where you see at least one of the bloody things every time you open your eyes.

The question is, how do you know which videos are stone cold classics and which are just dust in the wind of the World Wide Web?

As usual, we’re here to help! We’ve rounded up the most notable clips from the last seven days from the far-flung recesses of the internet.

Check them out after the drop.

U.S. Girls - New Age Thriller

Directed by: Ross Turnbull

U.S. Girls’ is the gloom-pop project of Meghan Remy – a Canadian singer-songwriter with a penchant for the melancholic.

The strictly black and white video for New Age Thriller sees Remy return to a familiar and fitting aesthetic of brutalist architecture, shadowy figures and abstract imagery. Start you week off right with a healthy dose of post-industrial paranoia.

A$AP Mob - Yamborghini High ft. Juicy J

A$AP Mob’s Yamborghini High video pays tribute to the late A$AP Yams with glitchy digital effects and Yams’ distinct purple gloss.

The crew hang out in their multicoloured bath robes outside their mansion – which is eventually revealed to be nothing more than a studio backdrop.

Yamborghini High heralds a return to the Harlem rap mobs aesthetic roots and provides a fun-filled homage to their late founder.

Steve Gunn - Ancient Jules

Directed by: Claes Norwell

Is there any more shimmering symbol of freedom than the humble motorbike? Doubtful.

Steve Gunn hops on a vintage BMW scrambler but his idyllic jaunt through the British countryside is scuppered by a breakdown. Luckily legendary English guitarist Michael Chapman is on-hand to offer him a cup of tea and trip down memory lane.

Soundtracked by Gunn’s rolling Americana this is yet a sublimely mellow treat to add to Gunn’s rapidly growing pile of gorgeous visuals.

Super Furry Animals - Bing Bong

Directed by: Mark James Works

Super Furry Animals’ shot at writing a sort of Three Lions for Wales’ Euro 2016 hopes is a suitably insane affair.

We don’t know what you’ve been smoking over on the other side of the bridge but we’ve got cash and we’ll bring our own bong.

Metronomy – Old Skool

Directed by: Dawn Shadforth

You may have seen Metronomy’s driving force Joseph Mount sitting proudly on the front cover of this month’s Crack Magazine. The flame-haired pop impresario is about to drop his new album Summer 08 and Old Skool is the first single to appear from the project.

The 70s inspired party documented in the video sits comfortably alongside Mount’s disco-inflected electronic grooves and ends with a dance-off soundtrack by a guest spot from none-other than honorary Beastie Boy Mixmaster Mike.

Turnstile - Addicted

Directed by: Elliot Bech

It’s easy to say “They don’t make em like this anymore…” but then there’s always that one band that wants nothing more than to proves the naysayers wrong. Turnstile are just that band.

They play ludicrously fast, pointlessly short punk songs that nod to thrash, hardcore and everything in between.

Addicted is no exception and the video is a mind-melt that only lasts 1 minute and 30 seconds but will stay with you for the rest of the day.
