Listen to a playlist of FLINTA artists duendita returns to when feeling lost
Welcome back to Selections, a series of artist-curated playlists from those in the know.
Queens-based artist and producer duendita (a.k.a. Candace Lee Camacho) creates deeply personal work rooted in collaboration, making music with family, friends and creative communities across cities and disciplines.
Since the release of duendita’s debut LP, direct line to My Creator, in 2018, the artist has continued to explore intimate emotional landscapes, most recently on the 12-track album existential thottie, released last month.
Here, duendita shares a playlist featuring 15 FLINTA artists whose music offers comfort, grounding and inspiration, featuring Salimata, Halima, KEYAH/BLU and more. “Lately, I’ve been writing and performing music that wrestles with the emotional weight of patriarchy and gendered violence,” duendita explains. “It’s important to express those feelings, but even more important to redirect my attention and focus on what nurtures my spirit and sustains me. My playlist features 15 FLINTA artists I return to when I feel lost and hopeless.”

duendita plays this year’s Les Nuits Botanique Festival, which takes place from 14-31 May in Brussels
