Listen to a playlist of Italian library music selected by Katatonic Silentio
Welcome back to Selections, a series of artist-curated playlists from those in the know.
Italian producer, DJ and researcher Mariachiara Troianiello, a.k.a. Katatonic Silentio, has spent over 20 years immersed in experimental electronic music, navigating the space between sound art and club experimentation. Alongside her work as a producer and performer, Troianiello explores the relationship between music, movement and mythology through theatre, dance and independent research into ancient sonic cultures. Her new EP, Paradise Mountain, released via Maloca Records, marks a luminous shift from the moody territories of her earlier releases on labels such as Ilian Tape and Delsin, weaving Detroit electro & techno drum workouts with slow-cycling arpeggiations, shimmering modular textures and emotionally expansive, hypnotic atmospheres.
Here, she turns toward Italian library music, assembling a playlist that reflects the deeper roots of her sonic language and long-standing fascination with atmosphere, experimentation and transcendence. Dig in.
Katatonic Silentio plays La Nature Festival, which takes place from 18-21 in the forests of the Baraque de Fraiture in Vielsalm, Belgium
