Welcome back to Selections, a series of artist-curated playlists from those in the know.

A producer, DJ and songwriter, Toronto’s Loukeman has built a reputation for pulling from everywhere at once. His productions glow with warm synths, while house-driven beats carry vocal fragments scavenged from unexpected corners – folk melodies, forgotten pop hooks, and bits of rap and R&B – reshaped into warped forms that feel uncanny but familiar.

Since the release of his debut Sd-1 in 2021, Loukeman has drawn co-signs from forward-thinking peers like Vegyn and Jacques Greene, while his follow-up, Sd-2, earned him wider recognition and solidified his place as one of his city’s most inventive producers.

Ahead of a festival appearance at Palomosa next weekend, Loukeman slows things down with a playlist meant for quieter moments – music for sitting by a fire, or letting time stretch out beside a lake in northern Canada.

Listen below.

Loukeman will play this year’s edition of Palomosa, which takes place from 4-6 September in Montréal
