Welcome back to Selections, a series of artist-curated playlists from those in the know.

Lucia Lu pours an abundant, dynamic energy into everything she does – whether that be through her selections in the club, as the co-founder of queer hip-hop collective Hoe_mies or her work as a community organiser.

Born and bred in Berlin, the expansiveness of her involvement in the city’s scene – and as a force for change within this – is reflected in her sets. On the dancefloor Lu brings high-octane, upbeat sounds blending techno and house with pop, hip-hop and disco edits. Which is exactly the kind of exuberant energy you can expect from her set at Patterns in Brighton next month.

Ahead of playing the seafront venue on 4 November, Lu curates the latest instalment of our Selections series. Described as a “summertime sad” playlist, she says these tracks are “ways to chase away the warm-weather blues”. Whilst we might already be descending into more wintery climes, the same still rings true; press play below and let the buoyant grooves and soulful melodies bring some warmth to your day.
