Listen to Mia Lily‘s playlist of dancefloor sounds from across the North
Welcome back to Selections, a series of artist-curated playlists from those in the know.
DJ and producer Mia Lily is best known for high-energy sets that weave together bass-heavy rhythms and melodic dance music, via 4×4, techno, trance, breakbeat, 90s rave samples and more. A rising force on the London scene, she’s built a solid presence through residencies and mixes for stations like foundation.fm, Rinse and Balamii, as well as festivals throughout the UK. Originally from Blackpool, Mia’s roots are in experimental jazz and classical – her dad is a jazz musician and her mum plays piano – with a musical upbringing that continues to shape the depth and versatility of her own tracks today.
Keeping the sounds of her hometown close, this month the DJ has helped to curate a tour in collaboration with Mura Masa and Relentless, spotlighting grassroots talent beyond big cities. As part of the three-stop tour, she’s set to perform at Bootleg Social in Blackpool on 19 June.
To set the mood, she selects a range of dancefloor sounds from across the North – “raw Northern cuts and basement energy” – with a focus on Blackpool and the North West.
Mia Lily plays Bootleg Social in Blackpool on 19 June as part of the Relentless x Mura Masa Local Tour.
