Anyone with even a passing interest in the UK underground will be acquainted with Parris.

Since making his debut on Tempa in 2014, the London-born DJ and producer has set himself farther apart from his contemporaries with each successive release, steadily building an arsenal of hard-to-categorise singles and EPs that take sonic cues from established genres whilst neatly skirting tired tropes.

As a former FWD>> regular whose first foray into clubbing coincided with the genesis of dubstep, Parris’ approach to building tracks is informed by how they’ll sound on a big system and as such he takes a restrained, detail-oriented approach to production, arranging minimal elements for maximal effect.

It’s unsurprising then, that Parris is something of a pop aficionado. Keen-eared YouTubers have identified a sample from MGMT’s Time to Pretend in his Trilogy Tapes release, and Young Turks tapped him up for a spacey, pensive remix of Sampha’s Blood on Me. So when he offered up a pop-centric mix to coincide with Valentine’s day we decided it’d be remiss to say no.

From A$AP Rocky to Lana Del Rey via Charli XCX, Kehlani, and what may well be Justin Bieber’s first appearance in the Crack Mix series, Parris has served up a definitive selection of high-gloss romantic bangers. Tune in, lovers.
