Selections: IAMDDB

Welcome back to Selections, a series of exclusive artist-curated Spotify playlists from those in the know.

IAMDDB (real name Diana Debrito) released her first EP Waeveybby Volume 1 back in 2016 and quickly established herself as the real deal. Not that long ago Debrito was studying performing arts at college – cut to 2018 and she’s been featured on the BBC Sound of 2018 longlist, and has landed a slot supporting Bryson Tiller as well as headlining gigs across Europe.

For IAMDDB, music runs in the family. Her father was in a band in Angola, where she grew up listening to Afro-soul, Afro-jazz and kizomba. Raised on a myriad of influences, her own releases have seen her create a hybrid sound of trap and jazz that’s firmly her own. Her Selections playlist reflects her broad tastes, featuring US rap from the likes of Future and Young Thug, before seguing into jazz cuts from Gretchen Parlato and electronic production helmed by chromonicc.

It’s a playlist that’s packed with as much energy as the artist who selected them. Hit play.

IAMDDB plays at Sziget Festival, Budapest, 7-13 August
