Selections: Orpheu the Wizard

Welcome back to Selections, a series of exclusive artist-curated Spotify playlists from those in the know.

As a co-founder of Red Light Radio with close ties to the Dekmantel crew, the wizard has become a revered fixture on the underground scene. Based in the Dutch capital, the selector is one who consistently manages to demonstrate his mastery in knitting together boundary-free, and eclectic, selections from a record collection filled with obscurities. On top of that, his diverse selections, it’s safe to say, are primed for the dancefloor, constantly keeping the party in full swing.

It’s why we’re excited to be hosting an exclusive playlist from the selector, as he lets us in on what he’s been collecting as of late. In true Orpheu style, he works his magic on our latest playlist feature, turning in over a hour’s worth of border-crossing sounds. Chinese synth pop and new wave sits alongside boogie, funk, disco and acid house cuts, ending on a glowing number from Lawrence Le Doux.

Orpheu the Wizard appears at the Crack Magazine Open Air at Else Berlin, Saturday 11 August
