Electric Brixton

Having redirected everyone’s eyes back on to him with Atrocity Exhibition (out now via Warp), Danny Brown returned to London last week to play a packed out show in Brixton.

Rattling through a full arsenal of hits old and new, Detroit’s son ended up crowd surfing for Smokin & Drinkin from 2013’s Old. The anthemic hook of new hit Really Doe perhaps got the best response of the night with the DJ cutting out the instrumental for the call-and-response which will no doubt be ringing across clubs for the rest of the year.

The murky sounds of the post-punk indebted Atrocity Exhibition slot into the rest of Danny’s catalogue effortlessly and it’s refreshing to see such a young artist have such a battery of bangers to select from.

London photographer Vicky Grout was there on the night. Check out a selection of her photos below.
