Welcome back to Selections, a series of exclusive artist-curated Spotify playlists from those in the know.

This week, Italian trance deconstructionist Lorenzo Senni steps up with 18 tracks of caustic electronic wanderings and bold blasts of space and texture. Speaking to Crack about the playlist, Lorenzo broke down his unpretentious manifesto, lifting from his own collection and feeling the brunt of the limits of Spotify.

“I forced myself to select tracks that are all in my record collection. I’m not a vinyl fetishist or physical release purist, I just used this chance as an excuse to go through my records. I’m a streaming services power user and I I do not look at my shelves often anymore but, of course, I ended up complaining about unavailable releases.”

The result is a playlist which touches on a number of worlds – from the magisterial ambience of religious classical composer Arvo Pärt right through to the formative space rock of Spiritualised.

Lorenzo Senni appears at Dekmantel Festival, 2-6 August 2017
