THE SOUND OF ALPFRESCO – EXCLUSIVE MIX

Crack was partying on the Saturday night at Alpfresco in an Austrian log cabin, when the sounds of one DJ in-particular caught our attention. The progressive techno workout supplied by Charlie Balcombe was a little out of context with the house music of the rest of the weekend, but we were hooked until the 5am finish. Charlie Balcombe hails from Colchester in Essex and had his electronic musical direction forged by frequent Saturday night visits to Fabric through 2004 and 2005. Inspired by Craig Richards, Terry Francis and Ricardo Villalobos, he quickly moved in to record collecting and Djing and after getting the ski bug, relocated to Söll in Austria. Over the next eight years he has presided over parties at mountainside locations, not least the various venues used during this year’s Alpfresco, where his party organising as well as his DJing skills made for an unbelievable weekend. This mix was recorded just a couple of days after Alpfresco with the incredible vibe of the weekend still fresh in his mind and his awesome Saturday night set, that had many revellers enjoying his sounds, is represented on this hour and a-half mix.
