Continuous loop: Listen to a playlist of tracks played at ‘The Infinite now’
Welcome back to Selections, a series of artist-curated playlists from those in the know.
The Infinite Now was a 30-hour continuous event presented by Berlin Atonal and Unsound festivals, taking place at Kraftwerk Berlin on 16-17 May. “The idea was a concert you could actually inhabit,” explain co-curators Laurens von Oswald and Harry Glass, “where sleep and other forms of ‘split’ attention were integral to the audience experience.” Across the power plant venue, camp beds, hammocks and other areas of relaxation and activity were installed alongside a non-repeating film programme running throughout. “Most live music is built around short, vertical moments,” they add. “We wanted to stretch it out and make it horizontal.”
Over the course of the weekend, more than 20 artists played in succession, among them Marginal Consort, Keiji Haino, Actress, Terrence Dixon, Brìghde Chaimbeul, Joanne Robertson, 2k88, Lauren Duffus, Rainy Miller & Bianca Scout. Seven of the artists on the bill were curated by TIMES, a.k.a. The Independent Movement for Electronic Scenes – a partner of both festivals.
Here, the event curators have compiled a selection of tracks from 15 artists on the line-up as a reminder for those who were there and a taster for those who wish they were. Lie down and listen.
